Lieutenant Colonel Jan Pilgrim is an Army Nursing Officer in Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps and was recently Chief Instructor at the Army Medical Training Centre, Strensall, York, where a simulated hospital trained military nursing personnel for deployment to Afghanistan.

Jan has helped provide medical back-up for British troops serving in the conflict zones of Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
In 2007, on one of her eight tours of duty, she became known as the Angel of Basra while in command of the Hospital Squadron at the air base on the outskirts of the Iraqui city during the worst fighting of the war.
Under constant bombardment and sometimes without any power, Jan and her team often had to work wearing full body armour and helmets
Jan was awarded the rare Royal Red Cross medal in recognition of her work running the busiest front-line field hospital of the war.

Jan is a keen runner and has competed in many half, full and ultra marathons, mainly in aid of charity.

This event was authorised and licensed by Border Collie Rescue under a unique reference code.
Thank You Jan
