Border Collie Rescue can Re-home dogs anywhere in the U.K.

Most of the criteria outlined on the page you have just left applies to working dog applications as much as to pet applications.

Their are some questions on the form that are obviously irrelevant, like ' Size of Garden', however security of perimeter fencing is still considered in a home visit, if it is adjacent to a road.  Gates and barriers are initially important until a dog gets to know its territory and restrictions.

We do not expect dogs to be cosseted indoors, however we do want the best of care for our dogs and wish to see good, secure, draught free and clean accommodation with natural light and ventilation and a sleeping area raised off the ground and with suitable and plentiful bedding.

Home visits are carried out by a variety of agencies.  Border Collie Rescue members and helpers, RSPCA home visitors or those from other animal rescue organisations we work with.   Local Authority Dog Wardens.  Veterinary Practitioners.  There will always be some sort of home visit,

When a dog is offered for training it is normally done on an initial trial period.  This gives a chance for dog and handler to see if they bond and an opportunity for the handler to assess the suitability of a dog.

Please note - you must be able to train a working dog to qualify to adopt one from BCR
